When inflation rate goes elevated or high, Qyren will issue a specific recommendation card walking you through what’s happening and how to correct it.

What triggers this

  • Inflation rate above 5%/month (warning card).
  • Inflation rate above 10%/month (critical card).
  • Either threshold held for 3+ consecutive days.

What the card tells you

  1. Which currency is inflating. Most games have 2–4 currencies; usually only one is the problem at any given time.
  2. The driver. We decompose the rise into its components. Typical breakdown:
    • “Net faucet inflow: +64% contribution — gold entering faster than it leaves.”
    • “Power-creep contribution: +22% — new tier-7 gear prices unanchoring tier-5.”
    • “Event contribution: +14% — the April 1 raid event paid out 40% more gold per hour than prior events.”
  3. Which faucets or sinks are out of band. Specific ones, named. “Dungeon clear gold reward (sink: dungeon_reward) rose from 450 avg to 620 avg after the April 1 patch.”

Suggested actions

Ordered by expected impact:

If the driver is net faucet inflow

  • Throttle the single largest faucet by 10–15%. We’ll name it.
  • Add a recurring sink that scales with player level (repair, enhancement, consumable).
  • Introduce a time-limited currency drain event (e.g. a shop that only accepts soft currency and rotates weekly).

If the driver is power creep

  • Vault old content tiers after new ones launch.
  • Reprice the new top tier at 2–3x the prior top tier, not 1.3x.
  • Add a one-time conversion cost to move mid-tier items into top-tier ones.

If the driver is an event

  • Reduce the event’s payout by 15–25% next time it runs.
  • Add an event-only sink so the gains circulate back out during the event.
  • Make the event reward a cosmetic or a token instead of a general-purpose currency.

Expected impact

The card gives a numeric projection, e.g. “applying action 1 should bring inflation from 7.4%/month to 3–4%/month within 10 days.” Projections are based on comparable adjustments across similar games; treat them as ballpark, not guarantees.

What not to do

Don’t respond to inflation by raising shop prices across the board. That just validates the inflation and normalizes it. Fix the inflow, don’t chase the price. Don’t reset currency balances without warning. This destroys trust, and the inflation will return within weeks if the underlying faucet/sink imbalance is still there.

After you act

Mark the card. Wait 10 days. Qyren will follow up with the measured outcome — either “resolved, inflation back to 2.1%/month” or “partial, inflation now 5.8%/month; here’s a second action to consider.”
